Chaos Veras 5.1 continues to build on model generation

Developer Chaos has released Chaos Veras 5.1. Version 5.1 further builds on the ability to convert a rendering into true 3D geometry. Starting now, generated geometry loads more efficiently into the host model, generated assets can be reused, new engines are available, and the 3D viewer is significantly faster.

The key improvements

• Proxy Bake
  3D assets often contain millions of polygons and heavy textures, which can quickly make CAD/BIM files slow and unwieldy. With Proxy Bake, Veras places a smart, lightweight placeholder (proxy) in your main model (Revit, SketchUp, Rhino), while rendering engines like Enscape automatically display the full, detailed 3D model during rendering.

• Reuse assets
  You no longer need to run the AI again to recreate a favorite asset. With “Place from Gallery,” previously generated objects can be reused directly from your history, saving you time and AI credits.

• New engines
  Veras is introducing the latest Microsoft TRELLIS 2.0 engine for 3D generation. This delivers sharper geometry and more realistic PBR materials. In addition, Veras is adding support for GPT Image 2.5 (OpenAI) and Grok Imagine 2.0 (xAI), including support for reference images to provide even greater control over the rendering style.

• Improved 3D viewer
  The 3D viewer responds more smoothly, making image flickering a thing of the past. In addition, 3D objects are positioned more accurately and no longer end up on a higher-level piece of geometry, such as the ceiling.
