Why choose Chaos Corona

Features

CPU rendering
A surrealist 3D render of a futuristic city built on a computer motherboard. A flying drone carries a microchip across a landscape of electronic components and city buildings, symbolising the powerful and efficient CPU rendering of Chaos Corona. Corona delivers predictable, physically accurate results without cutting corners on quality. It supports both biased and unbiased rendering, including a 4K cache. Realistic lighting and materials work straight out of the box.
GPU rendering with Vantage
A sunny bird's-eye view of a vast, futuristic and utopian city with organic white buildings and green parks. This complex architectural landscape demonstrates the seamless integration of Chaos Corona with Chaos Vantage for smooth real-time 3D rendering and scene exploration. Render images and animations significantly faster using the Corona to Vantage Live Link. Use Vantage to explore your scene as an interactive real-time render while you tweak lighting, reposition objects or swap out materials — all powered by GPU speed.
LightMix
A 3D render of a cosy bedroom split diagonally into four different lighting scenarios, ranging from bright daylight to warm and cool night lighting. This demonstrates the power of the Chaos Corona LightMix feature, which allows lighting to be adjusted in real time after rendering. LightMix lets you adjust the intensity and colour of your lights directly in the frame buffer. Create, save and reload multiple lighting scenarios, all from a single render.
Corona Caustics
A sunny, photorealistic 3D exterior render of a modern swimming pool overlooking a wide river. The extremely realistic light refractions (caustics) on the pool floor and reflections on the white wall demonstrate the advanced water rendering capabilities of Chaos Corona. Enable the Fast Caustics Solver to add caustics to your scene with minimal effort. Reflective caustics are calculated automatically across all materials, while refractive caustics can be switched on per material. Volumetric caustics are supported as well.
Extensive post-processing inside the VFB
A split-screen image of a white sports car on a mountain road, combined with the Chaos Corona VFB (Virtual Frame Buffer) interface showing active Tone Mapping and LUT settings for extensive in-render post-processing. Handle your post-processing directly inside the Corona Virtual Frame Buffer and skip the round-trip to external software. All tools are accessible before, during and after rendering, and your settings can be saved and reused across any scene.
Stills and animations
A dynamic 3D animation still of a red sports car drifting at high speed through night-time streets, complete with realistic volumetric smoke, lighting and motion blur effects, rendered in Chaos Corona. Corona handles both still images and animations with ease. Take a look at the user showreel to see what’s possible.
Default settings that work
An extremely photorealistic 3D render of a classic wooden violin resting on a weathered wooden stool, demonstrating how well Chaos Corona's default settings perform straight out of the box. Corona keeps its interface clean and uncluttered, free of unnecessary parameters. The default render settings are the right choice in most situations, so you’ll rarely need to change a thing.
Compatibility
An abstract macro 3D render of a complex, woven blue metallic structure with a strong depth of field, highlighting the broad material and plugin compatibility of Chaos Corona. Chaos Corona works alongside a wide range of third-party plugins, so any tools already part of your workflow will continue to function — both during interactive rendering and in the final render.
Resumable rendering
A photorealistic 3D render of a hanging pendulum clock with a dial made of colourful flat shapes, used to visualise the time-saving Resumable Rendering feature of Chaos Corona. Pause a render in the Virtual Frame Buffer and pick it back up whenever you’re ready. It’s a simple feature that keeps your workflow flexible without throwing away any render time.
Autosave
A sci-fi 3D render of a detailed white robot operating a lit, transparent digital data panel, serving as a symbol for the reliable autosave functionality in Chaos Corona. Turn on autosave and Corona will write your render progress to an .exr file every few minutes. If your render or machine crashes, your most recent progress is always safe.
Built-in help
A stylised 3D render of a muscular cartoon handyman wearing a yellow hard hat and carrying a giant wrench on his shoulder, illustrating the Built-in Help feature in Chaos Corona. Tooltips are available for virtually every parameter in the interface, appearing automatically when you hover over a control. An auto-generated online GUI reference is also available for when your DCC application isn’t open.
Gaussian Splats support
A 3D bird's-eye view of a densely built city with a modern glass skyscraper at its centre, demonstrating Chaos Corona's support for Gaussian Splats. Place buildings in context and render complex 3D environments with accurate reflections and refractions. Populate your scenes with detailed, memory-efficient splats captured from real-world environments or objects, giving you smoother surfaces, richer volumetric detail and a more convincing sense of depth.
