Developer mind.sight.studios has released a long-awaited upgrade for Skimp. Several changes have been made in Skimp 2.0 that enhance the user experience:
- New import types! GLB / glTF, USD (.usda, .usdc, .usdz), and SKP.
- Preview now shows textures and shading.
- When importing, you will see a progress bar.
- Greatly improved user experience.
- Isolated edges not attached to faces are now maintained when importing or simplifying SKP files.
- Missing faces due to SketchUp tiny-face issue is now much less likely to occur (especially if using meters as import units).
- Ability to import as flat-shaded (eliminates smoothing artifacts).
- Simplification error tolerance now works better when simplifying scaled objects.
- Transparent materials are now imported correctly.
- And many bug fixes.
Availabilty
Skimp 2.0 is a free upgrade for all existing users, both subscription and perpetual. The latest version can be downloaded from the official Skimp download page.
