Twinmotion 2026.1 is available
Twinmotion 2026.1 brings a solid set of rendering and workflow improvements.
Twinmotion 2026.1 is now available and ready for download, bringing new features and enhancements for creators across industries.
Photo matching
Load a background image as a backplate and use the new Match Perspective tool to identify vanishing points. Twinmotion will adjusts the camera position and focal length accordingly, letting you integrate your 3D model convincingly into a 2D image. You can even project shadows from the 3D objects in your scene onto the calculated ground plane to really reinforce the illusion.
Automatic edge softening
The new Autosoft edge feature applies a rendering effect that softens unnaturally sharp edges on CG objects to a defined radius. The effect works in Standard, Lumen, and Path Tracer modes.
Lighting channels
Lighting channels let you precisely control which lights affect which objects. Only objects and lights assigned to the same channel will interact. This feature enables you to fine-tune your lighting to suit your purpose. For example: in a product or fashion shot, you might want to keep the product out of the background lighting.
New camera and lens effects
The new Auto focus feature makes depth of field behave more like a real camera: the focal point follows the center of the screen, with adjustable focus speed and an optional focus hunting effect.
Two new bokeh types have been added: Anamorphic oval and Petzval. They replicate real-world lens characteristics like elongated or swirling bokeh. They can be used individually or together.
There’s also a new Barrel distortion slider that subtly curves straight lines near the edges of the frame, just like some real-world lenses (especially wide-angle ones) do.
Particle VFX overhaul
Dynamic effects like fire, fog, smoke, and water have been rebuilt for better performance and visual quality. The library includes new examples, and parameters are now exposed for customisation.
European tree pack
10 new photorealistic European tree species, each with three variations, have been added to the library, so you can create richer, more diverse wooded environments.

Persistent file location
Asset libraries — including user content — are now stored in a persistent folder structure rather than a per-version one. This makes assets available across future versions and simplifies file paths.
And more…
These are just the highlights of Twinmotion 2026.1. The extensive release notes give you more details on all the updates.
