SU Podium 2.5.1 Plus
August 31, 2015
Podium Walker 1.2.8 has got the following improvements:
Lightmaps
With the release of v1.2.8, Podium Walker now makes use of light-maps as part of the rendering process. Lightmaps are a form of pre-rendering, in which lighting information is calculated and “baked” into your model.
Freedom to iterate
While this does not eliminate the need for Podium Walker to carry out ray-tracing calculations, the calculations can now be done earlier in the design process giving users far more leeway to make iterative design decisions. Light-maps make last minute changes to an animation far less time-intensive.
Re-render in a fraction of the time
Once your changes have been made, Podium Walker will be able to re-export your video in a fraction of the time it would have taken without lightmaps because the scene has already been ray-traced.
SU Podium 2.5.1 Plus

Podium Panoramas
Podium Panoramas is a tool to create 360-degree panoramas from 3D models, so they can be interactively presented to customers. The panorama will be exported as an HTML code, so it can be presented on a website.
Speed Improvement
SU Podium 2.5.1 Plus is up to 50% faster than v2.5 Plus.
Control Shadow Casting
Shadow casting can be toggled on or off for specific items.

Much Faster
SU Podium 2.5 Plus is now much faster because of a switch from Ruby to C++. Because of this, geometry will be processed and exported to Podium’s ray-tracing engine much faster. Larger models can be rendered up to 10x faster!
Improved Depth-of-Field
Podium Image Editor has an improved DOF (Depth of Field options) that lets you fine-tune the in-focus and out-of-focus areas.
Section Tools
This often requested feature has been introduced to render SketchUp sections. This feature is only available in the 64-bit versions for SketchUp Pro 2015, due to issues with memory on 32-bit.
Materials & Textures
Support for TIFF textures and several fixes to texture and material issues, like UV distortion, flipped textures and ‘Unknown symbol’ messages.

Transparent Background
Render your scene with a transparent background so you can easily add your own sky background to the rendered image.
Clay Render
Render your scene by removing all textures and rendering it with the same plane colour. It is an easy way to present a first concept or a volume study!
