SubD
For designers who need to explore organic shapes quickly, SubD is a new geometry type that can create editable, highly accurate shapes. Unlike other geometry types, SubD combines free-form accuracy while still allowing quick editing.

QuadRemesh
Quickly create a quad mesh from existing surfaces, solids, meshes, or SubDs—ideal for rendering, animation, CFD, FEA, and reverse engineering.

Presentation Tools
Rhino 7 comes with improved presentation tools, streamlining the workflow with a major update to the Rhino Render engine, so the same look you get in your Raytraced viewport can be rendered without any changes. Support for PBR materials and a LayerBook command has been added.

Rhino 7 Refined
In Rhino 7, hundreds of bugs have been fixed, but they’ve also added workflow improvements like Named Selections, Mold Making tools, a Single-Line font for engraving, and improved interoperation with third-party file formats…

Display
Rhino’s display pipeline has been refined to keep up with modern graphics hardware. In Rhino 7, some models will display significantly faster on both Windows and Mac. They’ve also made several refinements to the Display Modes to make them even more eye-popping while you work…

Documentation
Modelling is just one part of the design process; you also need to show how to build what is on the screen. They’ve improved many parts of the documentation workflow while also focusing on the more graphically-rich illustration tools like transparency and gradient hatches…

Grasshopper
Grasshopper seems to be everywhere lately. As usual, the developer is having a hard time keeping up (you might even see that familiar canvas in other applications). In Rhino 7, some new components have been added, but they’ve also made it easier to turn your programs into plugins.

Rhino.Inside.Revit brings the power of Rhino and Grasshopper to the Autodesk Revit® environment. It provides a set of tools for bridging the gap between Rhino’s free-form modelling and the world of BIM, opening Grasshopper’s rich ecosystem to the Revit environment, and enabling completely new design workflows and possibilities.

General Enhancements

• Windows 8 support;
• 64-Bit support: Rhino 5 now supports 64-bit operating systems, so it can handle larger projects perfectly;
• Display Enhancements: Rhino 5 is faster than ever, very fast;

Modelling Features

• Gumball: for dynamically moving, rotating and scaling geometry;
• Curve Piping: turn any curve into a 3D pipe;
• Shell: hollow out a volume to a certain wall thickness;
• Section tool: create a dynamic section of your model in real-time;
• Surface Offset for thickening the body;
• 2D Technical Drawings now act as viewports on a layout;

Rendering

• Automatic Image Save: the last rendering is automatically saved in a .rimage file;
• Open Rhino Image Files (.rimage); Clipping Planes are now supported;
• Environment: the current environment is reflected in reflective objects, provides the skylight colours and intensities, and can be displayed as the scene background;
• Background: the scene background can be a solid colour, a gradient colour, a wallpaper, an environment or transparent;
• Custom Preset Sizes: Favorite image sizes can be saved;
• Render Window: enhanced displaying e.g. RGB channels;
• Bake: gathers an object’s textures and decals into a bitmap file and assigns that bitmap as the object’s texture;
• Basic Materials: materials are now supporting reflectivity, procedural textures, HDRI, Blend material, Composite material, Emission colour, Ambient colour and diffuse lighting;
• Decal: Applies an image over a selected portion of an object;
