V-Ray Changelogs

In these changelogs, we keep track of all changes, such as bug fixes, new features, and improvements, made to V-Ray for SketchUp, V-Ray for Rhino, V-Ray for 3ds Max, and V-Ray for Revit. These changelogs also include all the changes made to each version of V-Ray over the years.

V-Ray Logo
A photorealistic 3D interior render of a modern, luxury hair salon, generated with V-Ray 7. The brightly lit space features three wash stations with large illuminated oval mirrors, warm wooden ceiling and wall panels, and a stylish waiting area with an organic sofa and ribbed poufs in the foreground.

V-Ray for SketchUp

V-Ray 7 for SketchUp, Update 4

V-Ray for 3ds Max

V-Ray 7 for 3ds Max, Update 4

July 22, 2026

Realtime viewport rendering
Chaos Vantage is now integrated directly into the V-Ray Viewport, allowing you to explore and render your ideas in high-end production quality right from your workspace. Get instant feedback without juggling extra windows or tools—staying focused inside your familiar rendering environment.

Gaussian Splat Relighting
Match the lighting of a Gaussian Splat to your scene, allowing you to seamlessly integrate real-world captured environments with ambient lighting directly into your 3D model.

Enhanced volumes in Vantage
Render volumetric effects even faster in real time. Vantage now supports VDB cache export, enabling you to smoothly reuse and integrate existing fluid simulations all the way from early previz to final production.

AI-power with Chaos Veras
Now included with every V-Ray subscription, Chaos Veras gives you access to AI-driven design ideation. Use preset or custom prompts to instantly generate multiple concepts, styles, and camera variations to jumpstart your creative inspiration.

Faster GPU rendering
V-Ray GPU IPR initializes up to 2x faster, thanks to accelerated asset loading and quicker texture compression.

Faster CPU rendering
Keep your creative momentum going with up to 13% faster CPU rendering. This speed boost is achieved through a shift to the Intel® ICX Compiler and the implementation of Hardware Profile-Guided Optimizations supported by Intel® Core™ Ultra processors.

Light Cache Denoising
Apply the denoiser before the actual render begins, immediately filtering out high-frequency noise so you no longer have to look at a grainy preview.

Distributed Rendering 2 (DR2)
DR2 is designed to deliver a consistent, high-quality rendering experience for both progressive and bucket rendering across all V-Ray integrations in your pipeline. Say goodbye to hardware limitations, DR2 lets you scale your rendering power infinitely simply by adding more machines.

V-Ray Parallax Texture
Breathe life into massive cityscape scenes and background buildings while saving time and keeping your scene light and responsive. The new V-Ray Parallax Texture creates the convincing illusion of fully furnished, lit interiors without needing heavy geometry. As you move the camera, the interior perspective shifts dynamically, maintaining realism from any angle.

Quick Caustics
Refractive light effects are now significantly faster to produce with Quick Caustics. Achieve realistic caustic effects with minimal setup, making them easily accessible for any artist and project.

V-Ray Displacement Material
Designed to simplify complex surface creation, the new V-Ray Displacement Material allows you to build and effortlessly blend displacement shaders, applying them directly to native geometry and V-Ray Proxy objects.

AI Material Generator
Turn any photo of a real-world surface into a render-ready PBR material in just a few clicks, complete with all necessary maps.

AMD GPU rendering
Enjoy greater hardware flexibility with V-Ray GPU support for AMD graphics cards via the HIP platform, featuring competitive 16 GB VRAM options and industry-leading performance for out-of-core rendering.

LPEs for volumes
Working with volumetrics just got much easier thanks to Light Path Expressions (LPEs) for volumes. Effortlessly isolate light scattered through smoke, clouds, or fog, streamlining post-production for scenes heavy on visual effects.

AI Upscaler
Save hours of render time while maintaining crisp, photorealistic results. Available in Chaos Cloud Collaboration, the AI Upscaler lets you upgrade low-resolution images into high-quality, presentation-ready assets up to 16K with a single click. Boost your resolution while sharpening textures and refining fine details simultaneously.
